1. Facility: Crystal River Unit #3

2. Report Date: 11 April 1977

3. Occurrence Date: 18-19 March 1977 .

- 4. Identification of occurrence:

Biomass of fish and shellfish impinged on the intake screens of Units 1, 2, end 3 exceeded the 50kg/24hr. reporting level of Section 3.1.3 of the Environmental Technical Specifications.

5. Conditions Prior to Occurrence:

All water circulation pumps running normally.

6. DescriptAon of Occurrence:

During the period 1000, March 18,1977 to 1000, March 19,1977, 67.27kg of fish and shellfish were impinged on the intake screens of Crystal River Units 1, 2, and 3. Of the 67.27kg impinged, Unit 3 accounted for 30.47kg (45% of total) . Two commercially unimportant species, the batfish and the cowfish accounted for 43.34kg (64% of total). Two com-mercia11y utilized species, the pink shrimp and the blue crab acccunted for 8.60kg (13% of total). Impingement of all other commercially utilized ,

species was less than lkg during the period in question. The remaining biomass impinged was distributed among several species of fish and shell-fish.

7. Designation of Apparent Cause of Occurrence:

No unusual or periodic events were noted prior to or during the occurrence.

It is probable that the event was normal'o'r possibly a seasonal event.
