o y July 1,1986 Docket No. 50-285 Mr. R. L. Andrews Division Manager - Nuclear Production Omaha Public Power District 1623 Harney Street Omaha, Nebraska 68102

Dear Mr. Andrews:

SUBJECT:

APPENDIX R,10 CFR PART 50, FIRE PROTECTION 110DIFICATIONS In your letter LIC-86-118 dated April 9,1986, you provided clarification to statements made in the safety evaluation that accompanied our letter dated July 3, 1985. This letter granted exemptions to a number of fire protection requirements of Appendix R to 10 CFR Part 50. The safety evaluation that supported these exemptions detailed a number of requirements and/or commitments that were to be satisfied.

In your letter of April 9,1986, you provide an evaluation and discussion of those areas where the requirements and commitments of the July 3, 1985 safety evaluation were not met.

The staff has completed its review of this submittal and has concluded that the deviations from the requirements and commitments of the safety evaluation are acceptable.

Our Safety Evaluation is enclosed.

Sincerely,

/S/

Donald E. Sells, Project Manager PWR Project Directorate #8 Division of PWR Licensing-B
