This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. H. E. Murphy of this office and

Mr. Frank Ashe of tLe Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation during the period

July 30 through Augus+ 3,1990, of activities authorized by NRC Operating.

License DPR-40 for the Fort Calhoun Station, and to tbc discussion of our

findings with Mr. J. K. Gasper and other members of your staff at the

conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during the inspection included the fire protection / prevention

program and a review of recent problems with the emergency diesel generators.

Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examination of

procedures and representative iecords, interviews with personnel, and

observations by the inspectors. Yhe inspection findings are documented in the

- enclosed inspection report.

Within the scope of.the inspection, no violations or deviations were identified.

Two unresolved items are identified in paragraphs 2.1 and 4.0 of the enclosed

inspection report.
