Six-Month inspection Look Ahead for Fort Calhoun Station
Dear Mr. Gambhir:
On May 11,1999, the NRC staff held a planning meeting for the Fort Calhoun Station to identify the inspection activities at your facility over the next 6 to 12 months. This meeting was held to support the pilot of the new oversight process. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of our planned inspection activities so that you will have an opportunity to prepare for these inspections and to provide us with feedback on any planned inspections that may conflict with your plant activities.
We may decide to augment these inspection activities with other inspectors or technical reviewers in order to train additional individuals in our new oversight process. Therefore, some of these inspection activities may involve more NRC personnel than customary for a routine baseline inspection.
l During the next 6 to 12 months starting May 30,1999, we plan to conduct the baseline inspections (formerly core inspections) shown in the attached inspection plan. For the resident staff, we have included the routine inspection activities that will be completed within the next 6 to 12 months. Routine resident inspections will not normally be included on these planning letters, but are included this time for information because this will represent the initial implementation of these procedures at the Fort Calhoun Station.
