Dear Mr. Morris:
SUBJECT:
SAFETY EVALUATION ON ELECTRICAL ISOLATION DEVICES INCORPORATED IN THE ANTICIPATED TRANSIENT WITHOUT SCRAMMODIFICATIONS(TACNO.73066)
In the NRC staff's letter, dated December 7,1988, you were notified that the Anticipated Transient Without Scram (ATWS), Rule 10 CFR 50.62, modifications incorporated into the Fort Calhoun Station design were ecceptable with the exception that the isolation devices would require further review. Our December 7, 1988 letter listed the additional information required. By letters dated February 14 and April 19, 1989, you addressed the additional information required, and we have completed our review.
Based on our review of the information you provided, we conclude that the isolaticn devices are qualified and are acceptable for interfacing the safety and non-safety systems related to implementation of the ATWS Rule. You committed to provide information to verify the acceptance criteria for the maximum credible fault test. This is a confirmatory item. Enclosed is our Safety Evaluation addressing our findings of acceptability.
Sincerely,
/s/
