SEISMIC ADEQUACY OF CONTROL ROOM PANEL MODIFICATION In GPU Nuclear Corporation's (GFUN) letter dated March E9,1988, regarding the above subject, GPUN informed us of their plans to employ seismic experience data to show seismic adequacy of replacenent recorders and new instrunentation and control rocm panels at Oyster Creek. GPUN also indicated that it was their intent to qualify these panels and additions to them using experience data allowed by IEEE-344-1987 and Draft Regulatory Guide 1.100. You also requested notifica-tion within 30 days of your letter if this approach is unacceptable to the NRC.
This is to advise that qualification by seismic experience data allowed by IEEE-344-1987 and Draft Regulatory Guide 1.100 is acceptable. However, it should be noted that the current Generic Implenentation Procedures are presently in draft form and a staff Safety Evaluation has not been issued regarding this matter. Therefore, GPUN can use this inforn:ation subject to the requirements that may be specified in our final safety evaluation.
