A routine, safety inspection of your annual emergency preparedness exercise
was conducted by Mr. C. Amato of this office and other members of an NRC
-
team on August 29-30, 1989, at your Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station,
Forked River, New. Jersey. This exercise was conducted because your exercise.
of June 7, 1989 utilized a scenario which was known to the participants'(IR
50-219/89-11). Discussions of our findings were held by Mr. Amato with you
and your staff at the conclusion of the exercise.
" Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I
Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas,
the inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures and
representative records, interviews with' personnel and observations of the
emergency exercise by team members.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were identified.
GPU Nuclear's performance during the exercise demonstrated the
ability to implement the Emergency Plan and Emergency Plan Implementing
Procedures in a manner that would provide adequate protective measures for
. the health and safety of the public.
