SAFETY EVALUATION FOR GENERIC LETTER 83-28, ITEM 4.5.2 FOR THE OYSTER CREEK NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION (TAC NO. 54008)

GPU Nuclear Corporation (GPUN/ licensee) was required by Generic Letter 83-28, Item 4.5.2 to confirm that the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station is designed to permit periodic on-line tasting of the Reactor Trip System and, if not, to justify not making modifications to permit such testing. In letters dated November 14, 1983 and June 12. 1985, you stated that the plant is designed to permit the required on-line testing of the Reactor Trip System.

Our review of this information as documented in our contractor's report, EGC NTA 7470, finds it partially acceptable for resolving this issue. The enclosed Safety Evaluation documents our concurrence with the contractor's findings and documents our review of adW cional information submitted by you on May 15, 1989 which satisfied the or ,tanding concern in our contractor's report. Therefore, we consider Item 4.F _ of Generic Letter 83-28 to be resolved.
