GENERIC LETTER 84-11 IGSCC WELD INSPECTION RESULTS In response to Generic Letter 84-11, Inspections of BWR Stainless Steel
. Piping, Consumers Power Company committed to inspect 18 welds for inter- ~
- granular stress corrosion cracking (IGSCC) during the 1985 refueling j outage. These welds were identified in Table 1 of our submittal dated July 2, 1985.
Consumers Power Company has completed the IGSCC inspections of the 18 welds and none of the results indicate evidence of IGSCC. Based on these results, i our actions committed to under Generic Letter 84-11 are considered complete.
, We have no evidence to indicate that IGSCC is a problem at Big Rock Point.
I I For your information, an inspector from NRC Region III was present and l observed some of the in-progress IGSCC weld inspections. The inspector also i reviewed personnel and equipment certifications, procedures and the results of i
all 18 weld inspections. No concerns were raised by the inspector and as a result he'is in agreement with Consumers Power Company that none of the welds
- showed evidence of IGSCC. His inspection results are documented in 4
IE Inspection Report 85018 dated October 24, 1985.
