' UPDATE TO VIOLATION RESPONSE FOR INSPECTION REPORT 88012 (LIMITORQUE VALVES OPERATORS)

Consumers Power Company's submittal, dated July 25, 1988 committed to revising maintenance procedures for the Limitorque Valve Operators prior to the 1989

. refueling outage. Due to workload priorities, only the procedures needed for the 1989 refueling outage will be presently completed. Procedures not needed during this 1989 refueling outage will be upgraded by our procedure writers group. Our revised responses to items 1 and 2 of the violation are as'follows:

Revised Responte to 50-153/88012 Violation Item 1 Since the' target of the 1989 refueling outage was estab31shed, Consumers Power Company decided to staff a procedure writers group dediented to upgrade all maintenance procedures. In order to prioritize this effort, the maintenance

-activities for the 1989 refueling outage were reviewed and those protadures needed for the outage were identified and revised first. No SMA-000 operators '

are being disassembled / reassembled this outage hence a procedure is not currently needed. However, should maintenance be required on a SMA-600 operator, the appropriate procedure will be revised and issued prior to disasserebly of the oporttor.

Revised Responae to 50-155/88012 Violation Item 2 An error was discovered in the original response which indicated lubrication requirements for the SMA-000 operators was located in procedure MGP-14. The response should have indicated MGP-25.
