Dresden Station Unit 1 HPCI Progress Report NRC Docket No. 50-10 l'

K.R. Goller Letter to J.S. Abel .

dated August 5, 1974

. 1

Dear Mr. Ziemann:

This letter is being transmitted in accordance with Reference (a) to report the status of our progress towards completion of the -

Dresden Unit 1 HPCI System.

The HPCI building and north electric duct run are structurally

-. complete. The HPCI building cable pan installation is also essentially complete. Heating, ventilating and air conditioning work is 60% com-plete. Most large equipment has arrived on-site except for the fuel oil storage tanks, fuel oil transfer pumps, service water pumps and ESAP diesel generators.

We expect to cut the sphere penetrations for the HPCI pipe ,

and electrical cables later this month. In addition, the hangers i and cable pans to be installed between manhole #4 and the turbine i building will start at the end of this month. Electric work for the l entire HPCI job is currently about 30% complete.

Our transmittal of the Appendix K sample problem in April, 1979 requested a meeting with the NRC staff to discuss any possible ques-tions. We currently have Exxon performing Appendix K calculations k for the final submittal later this year. To insure that .all NRC staff concerns are properly addressed we again request to have a meeting to discuss the technique and scope of the analysis.

One (1) signed original and thirty-nine (39) copies of this letter are provided for your use.

Very truly yours,
