NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-10/99009(DNMS)

Dear Mr. Kingsley:

'On May 6,1999, the NRC completed an inspection at your Dresden Unit 1 Station which

. examined decommissioning activities. The enclosed report presents the results of that

> inspection.

During the 6 week period covered by this inspection, activities in the areas of facility

management and control, decommissioning support, and radiological safety were examined.-

Several incidents were evaluated during the inspection in which individual radiation worker

. performance was less than satisfactory. However, the overall performance of the reactor

decommissioning program was adequate.

Based on the results of this inspection, the NRC has determined that two' violations of NRC

requirements occurred. These violations are being treated as Non-Cited Violations (NCVs),

consistent with Appendix C of the Enforcement Policy. These NCVs are described in the

,

. subject inspection report. if you contest the violation or severity level of these NCVs, you

should provide a response within 30 days of the date of this inspection report, with the basis for

( your denial, to the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, ATTN: Document Control
