Units 2 and 3 R.D. 1, Delta, Pennsylvania 17314 Identification of Deviation:

Loss of a second fan on the 'C ' cool ing tower.

Conditions Prior to Deviation:

Units 2 and 3 operating at nominal full power.

Description of Deviation:

With the tower in service, the 'A' fan tripped intermittently from high vibration.

1 Analysis of Deviation:

A3 there were nine of cleven . fans running, there was no signifi-cant environmental consequences as a result of the inoperability of this fan. Tne water temperature ! caving the tower changed only slightly.

River flow during this period was in excess of 32,000 CFS. .

Corrective Action:

The remaining work on the "D" fan drive train, as reported in 50-277/278-75-3, was completed to return the tower to a condition of ten operabic fans. The ' A' motor was removed from the fan, the bearings

  • replaced, and the motor returned to service, making all cleven fans  ;

l operable'.
