PEACH BOTTOM ATOMIC POWER STATION TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS MANUAL 3.6.D.1

Dear Sir:

Description of Occurrence On 7/03/96, the Main Stack Wide Range Gas Radiation Monitor System (GRMS) was removed from service for a planned modification. The purpose of this modification is to replace both the Narrow Range GRMS and the Wide Range GRMS with more reliable equipment. This modification is expected to be completed by 8/30/96. The time required to perform this modification is necessary to maintain at least one Narrow Range GRMS channel operable at all times. The Peach Bottom Technical Requiremer'- Manual requires a special report submission within 14 days following an initial seven days of Wide Range GRMS inoperability.

Corrective Actions Taken The Main Stack Wide Range Gas Radiation Monitor System is used for post-accident monitoring. In the remote possibility that an accident was to occur during this period of inoperability, field survey teams would be dispatched to monitor radioactive effluents as defined in the Peach Bottom Emergency Plan.
