Dear Sir:
Description of Occurrence On 6/03/96, the Unit 2 Vent Stack Wide Range Gas Radiation Monitor System (GRMS) was removed from service for a planned modification.. The system was subsequently returned to service on 7/01/96. This modification replaced both the Narrow Range GRMS and the Wide Range GRMS with more reliable equipment.
The time required to perform this modification was necessary to maintain at least one Narrow Range GRMS channel operable at all times. The Peach Bottom Technical Requirements Manual requires a special report submission within 14 days following an initial seven days of Wide Range GRMS inoperability. This report is being submitted beyond :ts required due date. The underlying reasons for the late submittal will be investigated and appropriate corrective actions will be taken.'
j Corrective Actions Taken The Vent Stack Wide Range Gas Radiation Monitor System is used for post-accident monitoring. In the remote possibility that an accident had occured during this period of inoperability, field survey teams would have been dispatched to monitor radioactive effluentg as defined in the Peach Bottom Emergency Plan.
