,' Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station Unit 2 May 1 through May 31,1998

1. Narrative Summary of Operatina Experiences Unit 2 began the month of May at 100% core thermal power.

The Unit reduced power to 84% on May 12 starting at 24:00 to withdraw a control rod following repairs to one of its scram solenoid pilot valves. The Unit retumed to 100%

core thermal power on May 13 at 05:00.

The Unit reduced power to 60% starting at 23:00 on May 15 for reactor feed pump trip testing and control rod scram timing. The Unit retumed to 100% core thermal power on May 18 at 12:00.

Tbc unit began end-of-cycle thermal coastdown on May 20.

The unit reduced power to 60% starting at 23:00 on May 22 for condenser waterbox cleaning. The Unit retumed to 100% core thermal power on May 23 at 23:00.

Unit 2 ended the month of May at 95% power.

Restart following refueling forecast for October 30,1998.

4. Will refueling or resumption of operation therefore require a technical specification change or other license amendment?

1. Wide Range Neutron Monitoring Modification to be installed during 2R12.

2. Cycle 13 Safety Limit MCPR Technical Specification change.

4. Main Steam Relief Valve (MSRV) testing change.
5. Scheduled date(s) for submitting proposed licensing action and supporting information:
1. Wide Range Neutron Monitoring has been subrnitted.
