Dear Mr. Eisenhut:

This letter is in response to a conversation held between the Vogtle Project Licensing Manager and Mr. J. G. Spraul of the NRC staff concerning a recent change in the Georgia Power Company's Quality Assurance Organization.

Georgia Power Company has created the position of General Manager, Quality Assurance and Radiological Health and Safety. This addition strengthens the overall QA and Radiological Safety Program by expanding managements involve-ment in these areas. This position reports to the Executive Vice President Pouer Supply and currently has reporting to it the Manager of Quality Assurance. The Vogtle Project organization was not affected by this change because the Project QA Manager still reports to the Manager of Quality Assurance.

Mr. Paul Rice has been appointed to this position and comes to Georgia Power Company with a broad experience in nuclear activities. He is a former naval officer in the Naval Reactor Program where he had responsibilities directly to Admiral Rickover in the areas of nuclear safety, quality assurance, radiological controls and overall performance of nuclear work.

Based on Mr. Rice's experience and the elevation of the quality organization to the General Manager level, Georgia

Changes will be submitted to the NRC as supplementary information and the organization section will reflect this organizational change. This supplementary information should be submitted prior to December 31, 1982.
