't l On July 19, 1989, the NRC: issued Bulletin 89-02, " Stress Corrosion Cracking of

! High-Hardness Type 410 Stainless Steel Internal Preloaded Bolting in Anchor Darling Model S350W Swing Check Valves or Valves of Similar Design". The

• bulletin requested licensees to identify, disassemble and inspect all safety-related Anchor Darling Model S350W swing check valves supplied with internal retaining block studs of ASTM Specification A193 Grade 86 Type 410 SS.

Licensees were requested to review the designs of other safety-related check:

i valves to determine if similar designs and material selection to the Anchor  ;

Darling Model S350W were used. The bulletin requested that licensees who do not have Anchor Darling Model S350W-swing check valves or valves of'a similar design provide a letter of confirmation to the NRC within 180 days of the receipt of the bulletin with a copy of the submittal provided to the regional administrator.

Georgia Power Company has reviewed equipment data bases and procurement docu-ments for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant ' Units.l. and 2, and has not found any valves or component materials subject to the action requirements of. this -

l bulletin. ~

This submittal completes the reporting requirement of NRC Bulletin 89-02 for the l Vogtle Electric Generating Plant - Units 1 and 2. Please contact this office if there are any questions.
