Completions: None i
Deletions: None Schedule Changes: Obs 33 BA 128097 SOUG Users Group Procram and Obs 38 BA 128108 Seismie cualification of' Eauioment - Reschedule of Walkdowns - On October 10, 1988 (C311-88-2134) CPUN provided to the NRC a schedule for the plant walkdown associated with the implementation of USI A-46 at THI-1. This schedule was contingent upon the schedule for completion of generic efforts submitted by the seismic Qualification i Utility Group (SQUG) in its October 9, ;
1987 letter. The SQUG schedule provided i for completion of the Generie Implementation Procedure (GIP) by the end ,
of calendar 1988, followed by NRC review and issuance of a final SER in the second a quarter of 1989.
It is our understanding that the NRC will issue a preliminary SER for A-A6 .,
. implementation in late 1989 with a final SER in mid 1990.- Based.on this SER schedule slippage, the resources that l would be needed'for performing the L walkdowns in the Cycle 9R refueling have l L
been reassigned to other higher priority [
activities at part of the Long Range Planning process. With Cycle 9R resources reassigned, the walkdown is now scheduled for the Cycle 10R outage, currently scheduled to commence October 1993. It is ,
GPUN policy that resources must be '
allocated for refueling outage projects based on the Long Range Plan. The new schedule for TMI is, therefore, consistent with the Long Range Planning Program, CPUN policy and the Integrated Schedule license condition.

i I
Delay of the A-46 walkdown to IOR does not I represent a safety concern since the original design and qualification criteria- !
applied to installed equipment l incorporated inherent conservatisms which provide established. safety margins. These criteria and margins were reviewed and i approved by the NRC during the Licensing ,
Process. The objective of A-46 implementation is to reassess the existing j; margins of safety and to confirm that- ,
acceptable safety margins exist for equipment designed and qualified before i current criteria were developed.
As part of pilot programs, training and i D' other interfaces with EQE Inc. (the prime contractor for SQUG), selective review of i a sampling of THI components and cable. '
trays has already taken place. The result indicates no problems exist with respect to seismic qualification by use of experience data.
obs 37 126201 Outace General Emolovee Trainino was extended to include Outage 10R' ;
currently scheduled for October 1993. '
obs 39 412523 Reclicate simulator Certificatiqn i Unorades was extended through'1993 to be consistent with the current budget.
