Dear Sirs:

The purpose of this letter is to provide the NRC a summary of the activities at TMI-2 during the l 2"d quarter of 1999. ]

During the 2"' quarter of 1999, GPU Nuclear completed the semi-annual surveillance of the TMI-2 Reactor Building on June 24,1999. No significant adverse trends of radiological l conditions were identified during the inspection. The next inspection of the TMI-2 Reactor Building is scheduled for December 1999, i

Routine radiological surveys of the Auxiliary and Fuel Handling Buildings during the 2"'quader of 1999 did not identify any significant adverse radiological trends.

The Reactor Vessel temperature monitoring system reported the Reactor Vessel temperatures

ranged from 46.3 F on April 1,1999 to 70.5 F on June 30,1999. The Reactor Building l temperature ranged from 47.1 F on April 1,1999 to 74,1 F on June 30,1999. The largest temperature difference between the Reactor Building and the Reactor Vessel occurred on June 11,12,13,14, and 15,1999, when the Reactor Building temperature was 4.3 F greater than the /

testing!for the Fuel Handling Building and the Reactor Building ventilation systems. Also, corrective maintenance was performed on the Auxiliary Building ventilation system. ,
