OPERATING LICENSE NPF-68 REVISED REPLY TO A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Gentlemen:

Georgia Power Company (GPC) hereby submits the enclosed revised response to NRC Inspection Report 50-424/88-29 which concerns the inspection conducted '

by Mr. A. Tillman and Ms. C. Perny of the NRC Region II staff on July 18-22, 1988. This revised response is submitted as a result of discussions between Mr. J. A. Edwards of GPC and Ms. C. Perny of the NRC on October 5, 1988 and an NRC Region II letter dated October 13, 1988. This revised response addresses only Violation 50-424/88-29-01 and supercedes the response to that violation in our letter NON-00328 dated September 21, 1988.

In the enclosure, a transcription of the NRC violation precedes GPC's revised response.

The information contained in the enclosure is safeguards information and, in accordance with 10 CFR 73.21 and 10 CFR 2.790, should not be placed in the NRC Public Document Roon.

Please be advised that the enclosed revised response was to have been submitted to the NRC by November 14, 1988, as required by the NRC Region II letter dated October 13, 1988. Becaure of a mailing error, the revised response generated at the plant site was inadvertently sent around November 4, 1988 to the GPC offices in Atlanta rather than our nuclear operations offices which were relocated to Birmingham, Alabama in late October. We received the revised response via conpany mail from Atlanta on Novenber 17, 1988. The NRC Region II office (Ms. L. Trocine) was contacted upon receipt of the revised response to notify them that the submittal would be late and the reason therefor. We regret any inconvenience that this might have caused.
