Reference (a) requested that Commonwealth Edison provide t certification that the Safety Parameter Display System (SPDS) meets the 4 requirements delineated in NUREG 0737, Supplement 1. Reference (b) certified l
that the Quad Cities SPDS will fully meet the requirements of NVREG 0737, Supplement 1 following enhancements to the operator training program.
Reference (c) stated that the outstanding training issue at Quad Cities Station would be completed by March 31, 1990. Reference (d) requested that Commonwealth Edison provide the status of implementation for SPDS.
l l A-lesson plan on SPDS has been developed for licensed personnel and included in the retraining program for licensed personnel. This= lesson plan was approved in September, 1989. The SPDS lesson plan was taught during the first quarter, 1990 license requalification sessions which encompassed'the ;
period 12/25/89-2/2/90. Personnel who held NRC licenses during that period received the training. Personnel, who were examined during the week of~ March-19, 1990 and successfully completed the NRC. initial license examination, have received the SPDS lesson plan for self-study and a quiz will be administered to document the completion of the training. This training will be completed by July 31, 1990. Commonwealth Edison will notify the Staff following the completion _-of this training.

Finally, the SPDS lesson plan has been incorporated into the initial license class training program. This will ensure that all license candidates will receive training in preparation for the NRC examination. The current initial license class received SPDS training on June 14, 1990.
