SUBJECT:

FORT CALHOUN STATION, UNIT NO.1 - AMENDMENT NO.133 TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NO. DPR-40 (TAC NO. 75858)

The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No.133 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-40 for the Fort Calhoun Station, Unit No.1. This amendment consists of changes to the Technical Specifications in response to your application dated January 26, 1990, as supplemented May 10, June 18, and August 2, 1990.

The amendment modifies the Technical Specifications to: (1) Increase the refueling boron concentration from 1800 to 1900 ppm; (2) Suspend certain sampling during periods when the fuel has been removed from the reactor vessel; (3) Revise the storage requirements of the spent fuel pool Region 2; (4) Allow discharge of fuel assemblies from the core directly to Region 2 of the spent fuel pool; and (5) Delete the requirements to provide a fuel performance report at the end of each cycle.

A copy of our related Safety Evaluation is also enclosed. A Notice of Issuance will be included in the Commission's next biweekly Federal Register notice, i
