NRC Region III recently received an allegation concerning the alleged use of alcohol by a contractor employee before coming to work at the D. C. Cook Nuclear Power Station. The attachment to this letter is a description of the allegation received and the identity of the personnel involved with the event.

The attachment to this letter should be strictly controlled and distribution limited to personnel only with a "need-to-know" to protect the personal privacy of the individuals while your investigation is in progress. The attachment is considered as exempt from public disclosure in accordance with Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 2.790(a)(7).

NRC Region III expects that the licensee will analyze the allegation, initiate the appropriate investigation, and take appropriate action as necessary in order to address the specific allegation and potential consequences of the allegation, if substantiated.

We further request that the results of your review and disposition of this matter be submitted to NRC Region III after completion. Documentation supporting your results should be maintained onsite for any further inspection by NRC Region III.
