YEAR 2000 READINESS OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS AT NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS," (C0699-02)

The purpose of this letter is to notify you of a change in the commitments made in our response to Generic Letter (GL) 98-01 Supplement 1, dated June 23, 1999 (Reference).

Two commitments were made in our response to Generic Letter 98-01, Supplement 1.

The first, installation of a design upgrade to the Meteorological Information and Dispersion Assessment System (MIDAS) was to be completed by November 29, 1999.

The

second, to complete Y2K testing and verification of the upgrade was to be completed by December 15, 1999.

Following a

conversation with your staff and a

review of our schedule for implementing the

upgrade, the commitment to complete the installation is being changed to October 15, 1999.

The commitment to complete Y2K testing and verification is being changed to October 30, 1999.

Attachment 1

delineates the current commitments related to GL 98-01 Supplement 1

and Y2K readiness, which supercede our previous commitments.

We will notify the NRC upon completion of these commitments.
