'The-attached Population'It' ens List consists of'336 items and includes all safety related mechanical equipment for Unit 1~and Common, and Unit 2 including NSSS equipment. The source of the-Population Items List is the

" Equipment Safety Report" (ESR). The ESR is a printout of an uncontrolled computer file of all Unit 1. Common, and Unit 2 equipment identified by the Startup Operations Group.

BASIS FOR ACCEPTING THE LIST:

The mechanical equipment was segregated from all of the equipment types included in the ESR, by generating a subset of the ESR entitled "EQP-MEI-REPORT". The "EQP-MEI-REPORT" lists only those equipment items that have a unique tag number of the form CPI-XITYZZ-01, etc., but excludes those items for which "XI".begins with an "E" 4 electrical) or a "V" (ventilation).

The Population Items List was'then. derived from the "EQP-MEI-REPORT" on the

related mechanical equipment, the flow diagrams and associated change documents listed in Attachment A were reviewed. Each flow diagram was j marked to indicate the safety-related portion of the illustrated system.

C. Various Item Definitions In two cases, items listed as single assemblies on the "EQP-MEI-REPORT" were broken down into subassemblies for the purposes of defining the Population Items List.

Conclusion Based on the review of the flow diagrams and change documents listed in Attachment A, FSAR Table 17A-1, and the Westinghouse MSR, it is concluded that the MEIN Population Items List is a complete representation of the Unit 1. Unit 2, and Common safety-related mechanical equipment. All Items are identified by the handwritten numbers 1 through 336 on the "EQP-MEI-REPORT".

Items randomly selected from the Population Items List will be checked to ensure that the installation of the equipment has been QC accepted.

This check would ordinarily be accomplished by confirming that QC has signed the Construction Operation Traveler that covered the installation of the equipment. However, Travelers were not always used to govern the installation of equipment in this population. Accordingly, the

  • following additional sources will be used as necessary to confirm QC acceptance:
1. ASME N-5 Certification Form signed by ANI for Unit 1 and Common Items.
2. Unit 2 Operations Open Items List.

If QC acceptance of the installation of a randomly selected item cannot be confirmed by a Construction Operation Traveler or one of the other sources

$ listed above, that item will be rejected and another iten will be randomly selected to replace it in the random or engineered sample.

BASIS FOR ACCEPTING ANY ADDITIONAL ITEMS:

' The Mechanical Equipment Installation Population Items List is considered complete within the scope of the Population Description; therefore it is not anticipated that there will be any additional items.
