) ;9 The purpose of this Quality Instruction is to supp ment Reference 1-A and to provide inspection criteria and tech-l niques for electrical QC personnel in the accomplishment of "Teminations and Splices Supplement."

', 3.0 INSTRUCTION 1

h Mf(Q.}\\[ g 3.1 TERMINATIONS AND SPLICES SUPPLEMENT 3.1.1

. Termination of Cable Cable shall be teminated in accordance with the latest approved Engineering drawings.

Conductor insulation shall be squarely and evenly cut by a mechanical wire stripping tool, without nicking the wire strands and shall be contiguous with the terminal connector barrel.

Extreme care shall.be exercised to. avoid any nicking and inden-tation of the conductors. Any nicking and indentation shall be j

subject to Owner's inspection and approval.

l Cable splices in lighting branch circuits shall only be made in fixtures or junction boxes and shall be made with solderless mechanical compression type connectors having separate insulatiag sleeves, unless otherwise noted on drawings. Nylon insulation wire joints. T and B Type RP12 (* Tool-TB2130), or equal are acceptable for lighting wire splicing.

• NOTE:

The' maximum wires allowed using the RP12 connector shall be either three (3) #10 A.W.G. size or four (4) i
