POTENTIAL DEFECT IN MODEL 1152 PRESSURE TRANSMITTERS DOCKET NO. 50-358, CONSTRUCTION PERMIT CPPR-88, W.O. #57300-957, JOB E-5590 Gentlemen:

This letter constitutes an interim report under 10CFR50.55(e) regarding notification to the Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company of a 10CFR Part 21 by Rosemount, Inc. involving a potential defect with their Rosemount Model 1152 Pressure Transmitters with output codes "A" or "D".

Our preliminary investigation has revealed a total of thirty-five (35)

Model 1152 transmitters will be installed in safety-related systems. To date, twenty-two (22) have been installed. The investigation will determine where the potentially defective instruments are located and if an ambiguous output signal could occur if such defects were in the instrument and to what effect the ambiguous output would have on system operation.

l It is our intention to test all Model 1152 transmitters with A and D l

outputs to determine if our transmitters are capable of generating ambiguous signals.

A verbal report and a copy of Rosemount's letter of March 14, 1980 was 30/7 56 ll0 APR 2 819g9
