SUMMARY

OF PUBLIC SCOPING MEETINGS RELATED TO THE REVIEW OF THE DIABLO CANYON NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff conducted two public scoping meetings related to the review of the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant Company, Units 1 and 2, license renewal application submitted by Pacific Gas & Electric Company. The meetings were conducted on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at the Embassy Suites, San Luis Obispo, CA.

Approximately 70 to 80 people attended each meeting. Questions focused on water quality, aquatic ecology, alternative energy, benefit-cost assessments, seismic and security issues, spent fuel storage, long-term high level waste management, the environmental review process, the role of public involvement in the environmental review, and the scope of the environmental review.

An attendance list for both public meetings is provided in Enclosure 1. A copy of the agenda is included in Enclosure 2.
