6 Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant License Renewal
- A License Renewal Application (LRA) for Diablo Canyon Units 1 and 2 was submitted on November 23, 2009
- On March 7, 2018, the applicant withdrew the LRA
- On October 31, 2022, the applicant requested resumption of prior LRA or an exemption to timely renewal
7 Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant License Renewal
- On March 2, 2023, the NRC granted exemption from the timely renewal provision in 10 CFR 2.109
- The LRA for Diablo Canyon Units 1 and 2 was submitted on November 7, 2023
- The LRA was found acceptable for docketing on December 19, 2023
8 Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant License Renewal
- The current license expiration dates for Diablo Canyon Units 1 and 2 are November 2, 2024, and August 26, 2025, respectively
- The existing operating licenses will remain valid until the NRC has made a final determination on the application
- If the licenses are renewed, they would expire in November 2044 and August 2045, respectively

- Comments were considered as part of development of draft SEIS before application was withdrawn
- NRC will review this information as part of its current review
