ENCLOSURE 2 TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL CONCERNING THE RESPONSE TO REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RELATED TO THE SEVERE ACCIDENT MITIGATION ALTERNATIVES REVIEW OF THE DIABLO CANYON POWER PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION JANUARY 7, 2016 By letter dated November 5, 2015, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff issued a request for additional information (RAI) to Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) related to the environmental review of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant, Units 1 and 2 (DCPP), license renewal application. By letter dated December 4, 2015, PG&E submitted responses to the NRC staff RAIs. On January 7, 2016, the NRC staff and representatives of PG&E held a telephone conference call to discuss and clarify the following RAI responses.

Response to RAI-AIR-5(c).

Discussion: The NRC staff requested PG&E clarify whether there is a greenhouse gas emissions reduction program implemented specifically at DCPP. PG&E stated that it would provide an amended response to the RAI to provide the necessary clarification.

Response to RAI-SWR-1.

Discussion: The NRC staff requested that PG&E clarify how total surface water withdrawals at DCPP could be determined using the spreadsheets that were provided in response to this RAI.

PG&E stated that it would provide an amended response to the RAI to provide the necessary clarification.

Response to RAI-SWR-10.

Discussion: The NRC staff requested that PG&E resolve the apparent discrepancy between this RAI response, which states that the DCPP desalination facility is licensed to produce 1.5 million gallons per day (gpd) and Section 3.1.2 of the environmental report, which states that the desalination facility has the capacity to produce 450 gallons per minute (648,000 gpd).

PG&E stated that it would provide an amended response to the RAI to provide the necessary clarification.
