SUMMARY

OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL HELD ON MARCH 4, 2015, BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY CONCERNING THE DIABLO CANYON POWER PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives of Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E or the applicant) held a telephone conference call on March 4, 2015, to discuss the status of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant Units 1 and 2 (DCPP) license renewal application.

By letters dated December 22, 2014, and February 25, 2015, PG&E provided most of the additional information necessary for the NRC staff to complete its review of the DCPP license renewal application, as requested by the NRC in our letter to PG&E dated May 2, 2014. As noted in its February 25, 2015 letter, PG&E intends to submit in June 2015 an evaluation of any changes to the DCPP severe accident mitigation alternatives analysis resulting from the Fukushima Near-Term Task Force Recommendation 2.1 seismic hazard re-evaluation.

Additionally, PG&E stated that the technical items required to be completed for the DCPP reactor vessel internals aging management program and associated implementation of the Materials Reliability Program: Pressurized Water Reactor Internals Inspection and Evaluation Guidelines (MRP-227-A), are planned to be provided to the staff in December 2015.

Having provided the information in its December 2014 and February 2015 updates, PG&E stated that it expects that the NRC staff will continue its review of the DCPP license renewal application. The NRC staff agreed that the information provided in the December 2014 and February 2015 updates is sufficient to continue its review of the DCPP license renewal application, as appropriate, pending submittal of the outstanding items identified above. The NRC staff will evaluate the resources necessary to complete the review of the DCPP license

renewal application and subsequently issue a schedule once complete. The enclosure provides a listing of the participants.
