As per our telephone conversation of 10 August 1988 I am documenting the request that an extension to 1 September 1988 be granted for the response deadline by the  ;

Texas Engineering Experiment Station (licensee) to the USNRC Notice of Violation  ;

and Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalty dated 13 July 1988. Jim Luchman of the -

Office of Enforcement, USNRC, Washington, D.C. suggested that this request be made l

through Region IV. This request extends the 30 day response requirement an addi- l tional 18 days. The request is made to allow additional time to obtain final  ;

approval and signatures of individuals presently on vacation or have been un. l expectedly called away from their office. It should be noted that the licensee has agreed to the stated violations and payment of the propostd civil penal *y was forwarded to the Director, Office of Enforcement, USNRC on 21 July 1988.
