Dear Sir:

The Nuclear Science Center has completed a preliminary amendment to the Safety Analysis Report (SAR) to include a conversion to low enrichment uranium fuel. The submittal of this amendment will occur after several facility design changes are incorporated into the SAR. However, we have been informed by the Department of Energy that funding for conversion will not be available during Fiscal Year 1995. Therefore, in accordance with 10 CFR 50.64-(ii) we are informing you of this lack of funding.
