Dear Mr. Bernard:
On 18 May 1983 the Nuclear Science Center, Texas A&M University System, received a copy of the approved license renewal for the NSCR. Upon review of the Technical Specifications it was observed that there is an error in Item 3.8 Primary Coolant Conditions. A portion of Item 2 of the specification has been accidently omitted making the specification unclear. It is requested that Item 2 of specification 3.8 be changed to read:
"The pH of the bulk pool water shall be between 5.5 and 8.0.
Deviations of pH values outside this range shall not exceed a period of two weeks".
A retyped (copy ready) revision of page 29 of the Technical Specifications containing the proposed change is attached.
It is also requested that future correspondence concerning Docket No. 50-128 and License R-83, when appropriate, be addressed to the licensee, Dr. W. Arthur Porter, Director, TEES, with a copy to Dr. Carl Erdman, Director of Nuclear Engineering Research, TEES, and Feenan Jennings, Chairman of Reactor Safety Board, and a copy to me.
