Catawba-Nuclear Station, Unit 1 Docket No. 50-413 i Special Report -l Vibration and Loose Parts Monitoring System j On December 9, 1996, Unit 1 Loose Parts Monitoring (LPM) l System Channel 20 was declared inoperable due to no signal i being received from the field. The channel functions to detect loose parts on the primary or secondary side of the steam generator (S/G). LPM Channel 20 and 22 (S/G 1D Manway and Hot Leg) are operable and providing monitoring coverage.

this channel during an outage of sufficient duration. Problem i Investigation Process (PIP) 1-C96-3226 is the tracking

document for this failure Since this channel has been inoperable for 30 days, this

information is submitted pursuant Selected Licensee Commitment i 16.7-4 and Technical Specification 6.9.2.
