ZIMMER NUCLEAR POWER STATION - UNIT 1 10CFR50. 5 5 (e) , ITEM M-67, LACK OF PROCEDURAL QUALIFICATION FOR PIPE BENDS W.O. 57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. 956 C, M-67 This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition, initially reported to the Commission on November 9, 1982, as a potentially reportable deficiency under the requirements of 10CFR50.55 (e) .

A post qualification program for small bore pipe bending operations is being conducted under NRC approved Construction Work Authorization Request (CWAR) #71. To date, twenty-four (24) of thirty-five (35) qualification tests have been completed. The remaining eleven (11) tests will be completed upon receipt of the test material. Analysis to determine the acceptability of the pipe bend qualification tests and any corrective action needed will be performed by The Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company, H. J.

Kaiser Company, and Sargent & Lundy Engineers. A follow-up report will be submitted by August 10, 1983.
