ZIMMER NUCLEAR POWER STATION - UNIT 1 10CFR50. 55 (e) ITEM S-ll, STRUCTURAL STEEL BOLTING W.O. 57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. 956C, S-ll This letter consititues an interim report concerning the subject condition initially reported to the Commission on May 13, 1983 as a potentially reportable deficiency under the requirements of 10CFR50.55 (e) and provides the status of the actions being taken to resolve the deficiency. Based on a telephone conversation between E.R. Schweibinz (NRC) and G.C.
Ficke (CG&E), it was agreed that an extension would be granted for the submittal of this report f rom September 12, 1983 to September 15, 1983.
Our previous interim report, LOZ-83-0046, dated June 10, 1983, identified the potential deficiencies related to high strength bolting of structural steel connections and stated that the Quality Confirmation Program (QCP) had been expanded to resolve these concerns. The program for reinspection and rework of structural steel high strength bolting was presented during an August 11, 1983 meeting between CG&E and the NRC.
Formal submittal of the above program, including a request for relaxation of the NRC November 12, 1982 " Order to Show Cause and Order Immediately Suspending Construction" (CLI-82-33) per Section IV.B (3) , will be made by November 1, 1983.
