On June 13, 1984, the licensee furnished Region I with an update on the status of their investigation into the credibility of the Laborers Union, Local 275, " good guy" letters.

The licensee held meetings with union officials in Peekskill, New York, on June 8 and 11, 1984, and determined that more productive results could be obtained from records at the unions local area pension and welfare office at White Plains, New York. A review of 80 rscords at that office on June 12, 1984 of laborers who applied for access to the site, diccioned a total of 8 with less than 3 years union membership. Two of the 8 were the cubject of the original preliminary notification which this updates. The remaining 6 will n:t be accepted by the licensee until background investigations are completed and c tisfactory.

Tha licensee plans to have a meeting this week with all craft unions working at the fccility to emphasize the need for and importance of following the licensee's requirements ist background screening. The licensee intends to' request the unions to conduct background investigations in accordance with ANSI 18.17, but doubts that the unions will agree. --
