The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by OIE staff as of 4:00 P. M. on date of this notification. IT SHOULD BE SPECIFICALLY NOTED THAT THIS NOTIFICATION MAY CONTAIN INFORMATION THAT LATER MAY BE DETERMINED TO BE INACCURATE OR INCONSISTENT. ORGANIZED DEMONSTRATION AT INDIAN POINT FACILITIES I The licensee was advised on February 24, 1976 that the Citizens for Protection of the Environment had petitioned the Buchanan, New York Police Department for a permit to demonstrate at the entrance to the Indian Point facility and the permit was granted. The expected number of demonstrators is 200 with guest Representative Bella S. Abzug of New York.

The demonstration is to be during the afternoon of February 29, 1976 (Sunday).

The Buchanan Police Departu.ent will have a full force on duty; the licensee ,

plans additional security guards; the New York State Police are to give O"

' additional attention; and the Peekskill, New York Police Department will

,' be on standby.

i Media interest is expected because of close press attention given to unusual conditions at nuclear facilities and the attendance of Representative Abzug at the demonstration. The State of New York has been informed. A press release is not planned. I Region I received notification of this occurrence by telephone from a licensee security representative at 1:55 p.m. on February 24, 1976.
