IP-3 TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION BUILDING FIRE IE:I was informed at 10:20 a.m. by Con Ed that a fire occurred on June 17, ,

1975 in a temporary construction building at the site. The fire was esti- .

cated to have started at 6:00 p.m., and was extinguished at 7:00 p.m. by

the local fire department. The 80 foot by 80 foot building used for stor- l age and fabrication of insulation, located adjacent to the Turbine Building, was almost cumpletely destroyed. Office equipment, benches and boxes of F_

~1nsulation were'also destroyed. There were no injuries and no anticipated ,

impa:t on preoperational activities bnderway or on schedule are expected i as a result of the fire. j Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. has issued a press release.

Media interest is expected because of public attention to Indian Point operations. ,

The State of New York is being kept informed. A press release is not planned by NRC.

OIE received notification of this occurrence by telephone from Dr. George #~

Colbourn of Consolidated Edison Company at 10:20 a.m., 6/18/75.
