Subject:
PERSONNEL INJURY AND LOSS OF 138KV FEEDER BUS.
IE:1 was informed at 11:30 a.m. by Coned that at 10:35 a.m. on June 2, the reactor tripped from loss of one source of offsite power.
A janitor was found on a small parapet overlooking a 138KV associated transformer,at a substation adjacent to the reactor containment.
The janitor has serious burns over a ME:t portion of his body and is hospitalized. He is conscious but not coherent.
5 The parapet was not the janitor's working location; his reason for being there has not been detemined.

The reactor properly responded to the trip. Plans for startup are pending l
a determination of the cause of the occurrence. The occurrence is not nuclear related.

Media interest is expected because of personnel injury and public attention to Indian Point operations.
The State of New York is being kept infomed. A press release is l
planned by the licensee.
