2. Report Date: 5/6/75 3. Occurrence Date: See Item 5 below.

4 Facility: Arkansas Nuclear One-Unit 1 Rusa'11ville, Arkansas

5. Identification of Occurrence:

Details of occurrence are contained in letter JWA-1014 of April 17, 1975, attached. Reportable occurrences occurred only on dated when circulating water pumps were running.

6. Conditions Prior to Occurrence: -

j 9. Analysis of Occurrence:

. Interrogation of lab results against Environmental Technical Specifica- '

tion limits was not being done on a timely schedule; therefore, these 1 occurrences are being reported tardy. In addition, there was a Tech.

Spec, interpretation discrepancy among various persons responsible for j interrogating lab results. . 3

SUBJECI': ENVIRONMENTAL TEGINICAL SPECIFICATION 2.3.3 FILE: .D58LL-1 44.5094o This is to report sample results this year that may indicate that a report should be made to the NRC. hhether or not a report should be made depends .

upon interpretation of subject Technical Specification.

(m) Possible reportable conditions are as follows:

G' ._

Conductivity, umho/cm Turbidity, JIU Total Dissolved Solids,PPhi Date Intake Disch. Diff(%) Intake Disch. Diff(%) Intake Disch. Diff(%)

  • No circulating water pumps running on this date.

In our interpretation of the subject Technical Specification turbidity and total dissolved solids are not required to be run ualess conductivity of the .

water in the discharge canal is 10% greater than conductivity in the intake -

canal. If this interpretation is correct, turbidity and total dissolved solids should not be recorded for any of the above dates except March 17, 1975 and no reports should be made since the circulating water pumps were not running on that date.
