Description of Occurrence:
At approximately 0650 hours0.00752 days <br />0.181 hours <br />0.00107 weeks <br />2.47325e-4 months <br /> on January 22, 1977, a surveillance test was performed on the steam driven emergency feedwater pump (P-7A). After the pump.was shut down, the pump bearings starte'd td smoke. An investiga-tion of the pump bearings indicated that the thrust and sleeve bearings were bad.

Since emergency feedwater pump P-7B was operable and has the capability necessary for cooldown, there was no hazard to the health and safety of the public.
