Ns _,/ 1. Non-Routine, Non-Radiological Environmental ' Report No. 50-313/75-26

2. Report Date: 5/6/75 3. Occurrence Date: 4/21/75
4. Facility: Arkansas Nuclear One-Unit 1 Russellville, Arkansas
5. Identification of Oc'currenc.e:

Turbidity increase in plant circulating water exceeded Environmental Technical Sp'ecification limits per ETS 2.3.3 and ETS 4.1.1.a(4) .

6. Conditions Prior to Occurrence: --

Steady-State Power Reactor Power MWth Ibt Standby Not Output MWe Cold Shutdown X Percent of Full Power  %

Refueling Shutdown Load Changes During Routino Power Op' e ration

Routino Startup Operation -

Routine Shutdown Operation Other (specify)

Plant shut down for maintenance.

7. Description of Occurrence:

~;

Sampics taken at intake and discharge show that turbidity in the discharge canal.was 200% greater that turbidity in the intake canal (intake - 10 JTU,

' discharge - 30 JTU).

'9. Analysis of Occurrenec:

It is believed that sanrples taken were not truly representative of lake conditions; taerefore, occurrence is not realistic. Four circulating water pumps were running at time of sample collection and no liquid releases were in progress. No trash grinding was'in progress. ,

10. Corrective Action:

' Turbidity and conductivity tests will be performed as soon as possible following sample collection in the future to interrogate results.

_ Questionable.results will b,e verified by resampling. In addition, testing is being done to verify sample accuracy.
