Vogtle Electric Generating Plant - Units 1 & 2 RII: JP0; 50-424; 50-425; Interim Report of Potential 10CFR50.55e (Centrifugal Charging Pump Operation Following Secondary Side High Energy Line Rupture)

Gentlemen:

On May 15, 1980 C. W. Hayes, Georgia Power Company Plant Vogtle Project QA Manager, reported to your John Rausch that Westinghouse, Plant Vogtle's NSSS supplier, had reported a potential 10CFR21 concerning centri-fugal charging pumps operation following secondary side high energy line rupture.

This item is being investigated by our engineering and licensing groups in conjunction with Westinghouse. At this time, Georgia Power Com-pany is unable to establish a definite completion date for the final report.

An additional update and, if possible, a date for the final report will be provided by October 31, 1980.

This response contains no proprietary information and may be placed in the NRC Public Document Room upon receipt.
