ESF Filtration Unit Bolts l

notified Mr. Charles Patterson of the USNRC - Region II of a potentially reportable condition as defined by the reporting requirements of 10CFR50.55(e).
This condition involves the Unit 2 engineered safety features (ESF) control room HVAC filtration unit bolts.
The ESF filtration units are attached to the foundation via a "C" channel on the base of the filtration unit which is bolted to 4" clip angles secured to the foundation.
The holes in these clip angles are slotted to accommodate field adjustment.
The bolt hardware and procedures used to make this connection are in question since they do not meet the vendor's current requirements for this Seismic Category I component.
Since investigation into the root cause of this condition is still ongoing, Georgia Power's final report is not yet complete.
A final report on this condition for Vogtle Unit 2 is anticipated to be submitted to the NRC by September 1, 1988.
