SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE FOR AUGUST 1978 GENERAL Except for the outages discussed below, the Plant operated in the range of 80% to 90% of full power during the month. At the beginning of the month, the Plant was shutdown in continuation of an outage which had begun on July 31st. As of August 1st, this outage had been in progress for 2.3 hours3.472222e-5 days
8.333333e-4 hours
4.960317e-6 weeks
1.1415e-6 months
. SPECIFIC ITEMS OF INTEREST 8-6-78 8-7-78 8-28-78 The Plant was returned to operation, ending a 137.6 hour6.944444e-5 days
0.00167 hours
9.920635e-6 weeks
2.283e-6 months
outage. During the outage, repairs were made to six CRDM seals and oil was added to the 'A' Primary Coolant Pump. During this outage, testing and repair of the Containment Building purge valve T-ring air supplies was connnenced.

This testing and maintenance effort on the seven valves (CV-1803, 1805, 1806, 1807, 1808, 1813 and 1814) continued throughout the month. A Plant trip caused by low Steam Generator water level occurred subsequent to the loss of the 'B' Feedwater Pump. The outage lasted for 20.0 hours0 days
0 hours
0 weeks
0 months
. During this outage, insulation of boric acid piping was completed, and a ruptured disc on the No. 1 low pressure turbine was replaced.

The Plant was shutdown to permit repairs to CRDM seals and to replace the seal on 'B' Primary Coolant Pump. As of the end of the month, this outage had been in progress for 90.3 hours3.472222e-5 days
8.333333e-4 hours
4.960317e-6 weeks
1.1415e-6 months
. -j
