Dear Mr. Bechhoefer:

In the telephone conference call of July 9 in which I did not participate, I was informed that you were planning a site tour on August 14. During the conversation, you mentioned that it would be acceptable to have Dr. Charles Anderson or any other party that we might wish to accompany the group on the tour. I believe that Dr. Charles Anderson could contribute'a great deal

on such a tour because of his expertise c.nd the fact that he has acquainted himself with a number of the issues.that are significant in the soils hearings. -

However, I cannot afford to pay Dr. Anderson's expenses or consulting fees. I took care of his expenses when we hoped to have him accompany the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards on their site tour. He donated his consulting s'ervices for that one trip in . return for some investigative work that the Government Accountability Project had done for him. I believe that it would be in the best interest of the Board to pay for Dr. Anderson's services for the site tour since it is the primary purpose of the Board to get the best possible information.

Please let me know i this can be arranged.
