actuation of the safety injection systems occurred at 4:20 p.m.~5n~Jone 23. ine i plant initial conditions were: coolant tempetature 538'F, and reactor coolant system pressure of 1725 psig. The event was initiat.ad by the manufl opening of the main steam isolation valves, resulting in safety injection initiation from a high steam flow signal coincident with a low average reactor coolant system teary-ature. A'1 equipment functioned as expected. 5400 gallor.s of waBryere injected into the reactor vessel. The event was not anticipated as ; result of the valve opening and the licensee is investigating the cause.
